For now the work is still in the Alpha stage but is likely to be finished by the end of the year. That means some will be getting a nice update to Ice Cream Sandwich for the holidays. The members over at the XDA forums, “galnet” and “lttledvl”, are popular MIUI ( a modified Android platform ) creators that have created a mobile operating system based on Android that seems be faster than stock Android.

The Android Fragmentation Battle Is Won

The Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android is a culmination of efforts from Google. In the last versions, smartphones were manufactured with 2.2, 2.3 ( Gingerbread ) or older. This was called “fragmentation” of the Android system, with newer smartphones having newer versions while the old versions of Android were still out in the world. This created headaches for programmers, since they did not know which version was best to create programs for. Now this problem is behind us with Ice Cream Sandwich. This version is not going to be updated for some time.
