About

In this tutorial I will show you how to create a border in PhotoShop that you can re-use
over and over again with any of your images.

[ad]The border you create using this method can be used in other graphical programs too,
such as The Gimp.

Creating the file

Open the new-file dialog using the menu File -> New, and create a new file of which the
width and height have the same values as the images you work with most often. Set the Background Content to “Background Color”, which
standard is black.

Then click the ok button, and you should get a nice black image, as shown above behind the
dialog box.

Creating the border

Now select a pen or stamp of your liking, set the foreground color to white, and draw
your border. You may like fixed width straight lines, or you may like rought edges more,
both can give great results.

If you are pleased with the result, you can simply save this file, and your border is
ready to use!
