Google Scams

I often get the question if this or that Google Adsense Get Rich system is trustworthy or not.

Most of the time, the answer this is no. There are several ways to increase your earnings via adsense, and in the long run even make a living from adsense, but there is not a single system that will have you earn 100$ a day with adsense, starting from scratch.

Google is one of the greatest brands of the internet, without any doubt. This means that alot of scams rise up using the Google brand to trick potential customers.

Google scams promising fast cash mostly consist of e-books one has to buy, which contain numerous promises of getting rich very fast, by simply following these few easy steps. Most often, these steps include creating 500 websites, putting adsense on them, get 2000 visitors a day per website, and use some adsense-tricks.

[ad]If you do the math, you can’t but believe in their system. If you do indeed have 500 websites, and each website has 2000 visitors, and an average CTR (Click Through Rate) of 2% (which is rather low), and a payment of 0.25$ per click, you will get 40 clicks a day per site, at 0.25$ per click, means 10$ per day per site. And you have 500 sites, so you make 5000$ a day using Adsense, that is 1825000$ a year!

So, you quit your day job. You borrow 10000$ from Mister Mobster, who never takes his sunglasses off, and drives a black, tinted-windows-Mercedes GL. Promising him to pay him back in 2 weeks (hey, you’re gonna earn 5000$ a day, remember, you can go and bring him his money with your Porsche Carrera GT!).

But then, you notice that creating 500 websites is not that easy… Not even using templates. But you manage, using templates, and articles from articledirectories that you can use freely.

And then, you see that nobody on the internet is waiting for 500 new websites with content that you can find on at least 10 other websites. So you post comments, work yourself through the full list of social networking websites, and place links all over the internet, driving traffic to your websites. And it works! you have some more visitors already! 100 a day even! Good, great work, now sit back and watch the traffic increase, and the money roll in.

And sit… and wait… and wait… and sit… and refresh those stats… and log in to your Google Adsense dashboard again… And sit… and wait… throw a rock at the F5 key, which, in the meantime is totally worn out from refreshing… and you wait and sit…

And the only change that you notice is that your traffic is dramatically decreasing, already after a few days. And the only visitors left are the ones that accidentally clicked a link they found somewhere on the net.

And another thing you notice, is that you never reached the 2% CTR, since traffic from social networking site typically is low CTR traffic… They just come in, and hop out again fairly fast.

And then comes the time that Mister Mobster drops by to get his payment. And he is accompanied by two 7 inch feet giants who have more musclemass than the average ox. And you realize, that you’d better start out with one blog, and write unique content for it, and use the legit way of earning via Adsense…

There is some truth in these systems though, but you need to be able to filter it out, and don’t expect to get rich overnight.

[ad]The ideal way of earning via Adsense? Gradually build up a Google Adsense Empire. Start out with a blog in a niche, about a topic that you are interested in, and get that blog running well. Attract lots of visitors and incoming links. The way to do that? Unique content, nothing else. If your blog starts running ok, focus on a second blog, and even a third, following the same principle. In the meantime, you can also start working on a full website. Again, make one in a niche, and work hard on it. Fill it with unique content, but also add a forum and such. Make it a site that can keep its visitors inside for at least 5 minutes, preferrably even much longer. Make it Web2.0 (hence, the forum). Inbetween, add more blogs, but gradually, don’t ever forget about your other websites and blogs. Google loves content, unique content, but also regularly updated content.

Et voila, that’s the way to start earning via Google’s Adsense. No need to buy a startpackage worth 4,995$ + 750$ free added value, now for only 49.95$, if you decide right now, which will earn you at least 5000$ a month! You just got all the info you need for free. Do you want to give it a try on Adsense? Then first check out the article “Getting Started With Adsense” which will guide you with your first steps in the wonderfull world of Adsense.

And if you still need more info? Just ask, you can get that for free too ;-)

Correct! Most of such programs are scams. But th problem is poeple just do not understand that there is no “get rich quick” method.

Only way to earn online is generating quality content. But people want to get rich ASAP and fall into such scams.

This “get rich quick dream” is the cause that many useless services (e.g. traffic exchanges that send 30 sec. visitors who never click and read) are getting popular.

  2. admin - http://www.icantinternet.org says:

True, and a new type of spamming has come to life… No longer via emails, or bogus users, or comments, but via useless traffic, and traffictrackers.

  3. Anna - http://buildingfromnothing.com says:

I agree with you and I love your examples with Mister Mobster.

I started my Google Adsense account in autumn 2007. I still remember emailing my mom with amused excitement that I had at last made my first 42 cents. I was not working online that much until Sept 2008. But a bit here and there on the side, figuring things out as I went along. Not doing everything the fastest way and making plenty of mistakes LOL. But my Adsense revenue increased gradually. At this point it is at just over $325 for the month of February, and almost every month it is more than the last month. It has probably doubled since last summer. So, like you said, it takes time and persistence but DEFINITELY has great potential for the long run. I plan to keep going with what I am doing until it reaches thousands per month, and then go from there. A couple of years of consistent growth from 42 cents per month has been pretty convincing to me.

Thanks for sharing your story Anna! I just love it! That is indeed what I am talking about, Adsense can become an income, but it takes time and hard work.
I also remember the excitement when I earned my first dollarcents through adsense, or when the counter hit 100$ for the first time (after 5 months :-) ).
I hope you manage to reach your goal of thousands a month pretty soon (as I hope I do too :-) )!

  5. Anna - http://buildingfromnothing.com says:

LOL! I remember the excitement of that first $100 after how-many-months as well!

Glad you are hanging in there … the little fruits of persistence can be encouraging too!

It does take a while, depending on the traffic on your blog of course, but once it is rolling, and you know how to work your blog, you will get where you want to be with Adsense.

I have has Google Adsense for 2 months on my site

It will take me two years to get a hundred dollars…
Any ideas how to shorten that period ?

    • admin - http://www.icantinternet.org says:

3 easy steps will do that for you:
      1. Write lots of high quality, unique content
      2. Get lots of high quality, well targeted incoming links
      3. Read the articles on this blog

And remember, the first 100$ are the hardest!

      2. Create loads and loads of incoming links
      3. Keep visiting this blog ;-)
Oh, and put adsense on it of course…

  11. gerry meade - http://www.supercar-owner.info says:

Follow points 1 and 2 but WordPress says it doesnt allow adsense or any other advertising on its blogs ???

    • admin - http://www.icantinternet.org says:

If that’s the case (didn’t know, sorry), you have two options: go to blogger.com, and create your blog there (it’s from google, they have adsense almost standard, by simply adding an applet), or go for the real stuff, buy a domainname, get hosting, and install a self-hosted wordpress.
The second option is preferred if you want to go for it for real.

  12. Liam Betsworth - http://www.liambetsworth.com says:

Very valid points here. The Google Money Scams do sound very appealing, but as a multiple website owner I know it takes a lot of dedication and effort to earn money with adsense. Keep up the blog.

  13. Kieran - says:

This all seems very interesting.. I’ve just come across this blog while looking up on google money system, which as I expected, I’ve found out is a scam. However, this google adsense sounds quite promising. As I am in uni, and will be for another 4 years, I think it would make quite an interesting (and maybe one day profitable) side project. Could somebody maybe please explain it to me in a little more detail, ie how I get started, what it is exactly that I have to do to start making pennies?

    Cheers

  14. Mr. I - http://bloggingwithsuccess.net/welcome says:

@Kieran Here is what you have to do:
    1. Get a free website/blog. You can get a free blog at http://blogger.com
    2. Its very easy to set up blog and after that, you need to write (regularly) about anything you like.
    3. Go to AdSense.com and log in with Google(GMail) account. Submit your blog(after writing some good articles on blog).
    4. Once accepted, you can add ads to Blog from Layout –> Add Element –>AdSense.

However, AdSense payout is high at $10 and I’d suggest togo for some low payout network like BidVertiser or Project Wonderful.

    Hope it helped.

You can earn quite some money via Adsense, if you put in enough effort, and be patience. You cannot get rich overnight!
But, can you earn a living from Adsense? Yes, but it depends on what your needs are. If you make 500$ a month via Adsense, you earned peanuts in some western european countries, while this is enough to feed a family of four in some other countries…

  17. funny things - says:

There is no way to make dozens of sites to get a lot of traffic because you have to create unique content and get a lot of backlinks at the same time to get good traffic. If you steal content you get in trouble and usually get penalized for duplicate content in google. If you don’t get a lot of backlinks you won’t get high ranking so no traffic. Its hard to have more than 10-20 decent trafficked sites.

    • admin - http://www.icantinternet.org says:

Indeed, that is exactly my point here… It is better to put hard work in 5-10 or 20 max websites, which you can maintain to a high standard. This will pay of much more in the long run.
What would be a possibility is to create say 5 sites, make them very high quality, good content, lots of links, loads of visitors. And once you’ve reached that point, leave those to minimal maintenance, and start a new batch of 5. But I think it is hard to let your babies go :-)

Thanks for posting all this info. I am still in 6th form in the UK, studying theatre and music, and my chosen career path is very risky (acting), so I was looking for a quick and easy way to earn some money to pay for necessities like food and shelter – almost falling into some of these scams. My plan now is to get a steady, if low paying, job to pay for living expenses whilst trying the method you have suggested to get any extra cash for ‘luxuries’. Do you have any idea if said methods will work in the UK?

I think another problem is insincerity, Making money is awesome, but if you aren’t really focused on anything but making money it will show, in the boring bullshit that’s on the site. If you love what you’re doing it’ll be easier for others to as well.

  32. Aaron R. - says:

Thank you guys so much for this post and the comments. I landed here by reading the answer to a yahoo! question asking if the yoursearchprofits.com was a scam and now I think I’ll stick around here for the foreseeable future.

I bookmarked a similar site called at http://www.kevinsmoneytree.org/?from=3002invidmv which fits the exact same bill – get rich quick using Google, purchase a google kit for $1.99, the biography reads very similiarly to others (same job, same down on luck sob story, etc). What I’m EXTREMELY grateful for is the tip that they hit you up for “membership fees” to the tune of $70+ a month. The $1.99 figure is simply a bait. I’m contacting the attorney general to help reign in these scams.

    • admin - http://www.icantinternet.org says:

Thanks for the comment Aaron, we are glad we could help you out, and prevent you from getting ripped off.
As for your other comment, indeed, all these sites have their comments closed due to spamming.

  33. Aaron R. - says:

Oh, the other trick is the comments at the end gives the look of legitimatecy, like regular people gave testimonials and submitted pictures of their checks and how this all worked for them. But something else I noticed they all have in common – ALL the comments are closed due to “spamming”. How convenient.

  34. Joe P. - says:

@Joe P.: that is indeed a typical example of these Google Scam sites. Don’t go there, or you will get ripped off by them.

  35. JerreyRough - http://roughneckleader.webs.com says:

Ok. I have read this and the “Starting with Adsense” articles. But I still have one question.

How does one actually GET his links out there? How do you get directly at your target audience (which in my case is gamers)?

I.e. my blog is normally (not all the time) about a video game concept of mine. I don’t post all of the information on there (to be sure no one steals the ideas), but I still want to post enough for people to take an interest in it.

How would I actually get people to become interested in it? (As a note, I find that its easier for me to reply to questions rather than just throwing the info out there)

    • admin - http://www.icantinternet.org says:

@JerreyRough: Step 1: Make sure you have plenty, high quality (means interesting for your visitors), unique (written yourself, not copied) content on your blog
Step 2: Write a few articles about your topic, and post them on article directories such as ezinearticles.com and such. This will create links towards your blog
Step 3: Write articles that answer peoples questions about the topic here on answers. Then answer their questions here in answers.
Step 4: Submit your website to directories such as dmoz.org and plenty of others
Step 5: Find other blogs about the same topic, and comment on their articles, make sure your comment adds something usefull, not just saying something like “great blog”. Put a link to your blog in your comment.
Step 6: submit your blog to sites like mybloglog.com and blogcatalog.com and get a good community of friends there.

    • admin - http://www.icantinternet.org says:

@Deric: best bet is to call your creditcard company, and tell them about it. Most probably they will block your card, or at least that transaction. Most of these scammers ask a small amount of money to start with, and then withdraw 50 to 100$ a month (most often heard is the amount of 79$).

Want to make money on the internet? Imagine you already had all the money you need for life. Now what would you make a site/blog about? What really interests you, regardless of the money?

Try that. It’s what I’m doing. It will take lots of work, but just do it on something you love and aim for high quality, and it will be a thousand times better than any get-rich-quick scheme (which are almost always scams).

I have had a remote assistance website (remotesos.com) for few years now that I developed some time ago.. A good idea I thought at time I created it.
