No.. stop…I did not mean you have to start digging a hole, using your iPhone as a shovel. The kind folks of Mokugift created an app for the iPhone (available via AppStore) which will let you plant a tree. A real tree, indeed. For every app that is sold, Mokugift has one of their 12 partners will plant a real tree in Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Burundi, Senegal, Zambia, India, Philippines, or Haiti.
When the app is launched on the iPhone, an animated tree grows out of the ground into full bloom. If you tap the app once you can watch a little bird circle around your very own tree, and land.
Hans Chung from Mokugift understands very well that Apple has sold over 13 million iPhones. “If every iPhone owner planted one tree,” he says, “the environmental impact would be equivalent to taking 500,000 cars off the road.”
Do you feel like helping out the environment a hand? Then go to the AppStore, buy this little app for only 0,99$ or 0,79€, make it plant your tree, and then go out, and spread the word via blogs, links to this post, going out to the bar and telling your friends, running out on the streets naked yelling “The end of the world is near!!! We can only prevent it by planting trees with our iPhones!!!!”, or any other way that you see fit
